My Saturday

Hola Luvies,

Yesterday me n the Hubbs went to a Yankee's game. It was fun although I'm not much of a baseball fan (I'm more of a football type of gal) & they lost lol BAD! Later on that night we went to a clothing launch party to go show some support for the brand create at the Takeover store in Jersey City, NJ. I posted some pix to share with you guys. Check out how Fab my BF's kicks are, LOVE them! How was your Saturday?

JOTD

Hey Dolls-

Last month i went to Shecky's in New York and i would have to say it was a BLAST! I would def go again. I really wanted to order the tickets for their wine tasting and Shecky's combo event in the Hamptons but they were sold out so fast (bummer i know) but anywho, today i decided to wear the jewelry that I purchased there since i never had the chance to wear it (it was more like i forgot i had it lol). I love it though, it's very dainty & petite looking. All items were $15.

Last nights dinner recipe "Arroz Chaufa"

Hey Gals-

I know this isn't really a part of all things beauty but last night i decided to make the Hubby's favorite Peruvian dish "Arroz Chaufa". I've been making it for a while now & it is just plain ol' AMAZING so i decided why not share the recipe w/my fellow bloggers, enjoy =] .

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 bunch of scallions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 1 cup cooked chicken or pork, shredded, or 3 hot dogs, sliced thinly
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

Preparation:

  1. Whisk the eggs together with a pinch of salt and some ground pepper. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or large frying pan.
  2. Pour the eggs into the hot oil and fry 1 -2 minutes. Turn egg pancake over and finish cooking. When cooked through, remove eggs to a plate, coarsely chop, and reserve.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the wok, and add the white parts of the scallion, the ginger, and the red pepper. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add the meat and sauté for a couple of minutes more, until heated through.
  5. Add the rice, green parts of the scallion, and the soy sauce, and cook, stirring, until well heated.
  6. Stir in chopped cooked eggs, and serve.

My Saturday morning Fix =P

Saturday morning i woke up SUPER early to run some errands. First stop was the GYM (oh yeah gotta get bikini ready lol) then I was on my way for some relaxation. Had to hit up my personal nail lady to get the nails and feet did. I ended up with studio white (CND shellac) with some added iridescent glitter on my ring fingers. What do you girls think?

Sally's beauty supply HAUL

Sally's beauty supply HAUL

My hair has been so damaged this passed year because last Summer i wanted to try something new which turned out to be a total FAIL. I went from black to red hair so they had to strip my hair before coloring it. I know i know, it was an absolute dumb idea =(. I literally trim my hair about every 3 weeks until all the dead hair is completely gone but i still have some time to go. Lately i haven't been keeping up with any hair treatments so i decided to take a trip to my local Sally's beauty supply store and of course i couldn't leave w/out buying anything else lol. Summer's coming and you have to have pretty feet right girls? Down below are the items purchased, once I've used the products for a good amount of time i will do a review. Chow xo!
  1. Beyond the Zone split mender  $7.29
  2. One 'n Only argan oil restorative mask $9.49
  3. Beyond the Zone turn up the heat protection spray 8.29
  4. Folicure Intensive Vitamin Treatment $2.49
  5. Heal to Toe feels like new foot softener $1.79 - $4.99

FIVE cosmetic items I couldn't live w/out this Summer

Hey there Bloggettes,

I know you've seen a similar Tag going around on YouTube but since I am not committed to certain products all year round I threw in the seasonal part in the title ha-ha. I would love it if some of you would join in on this Tag, it's a great way to find out about new and different products. Enjoy Luvies xoxo!

  1. MAC fix plus (gives that natural look after your makeup is applied, perfect for Summer)
  2. MAC cremesheen (any cremesheen is perfect for Summer, adds moisture & a tint of color)
  3. Diorshow blackout mascara (this right here is my holy grail, who needs falsies with this product?!)
  4. Maybelline's instant age-renewing (I've never been a concealer person because i rarely get under eye circles but with a nice tan this is perfect. It's a great highlight and adds that I'm awake face in an instant. i was a Lil undecided between this or bronzer but this makes you look like you have both =D)
  5. MAC tinted moisturizer (Now i am aware that this doesn't give full coverage so I'm sure not everyone will agree with me on this one but for me it evens out my skin & adds a lil color. I like the consistency of it, it's not greasy and it's easy to apply for when you're on the go)

DIY distressed military vest

 DIY distressed Military vest:

This vest is actually pretty old, i purchased it at Charlotte Russe for about $5 (on clearance) a couple of years ago. I never actually wore it though so i decided this could be a great DIY project. About a month ago i distressed it with a scissor and some sandpaper but i wasn't quite satisfied with the results, it needed more flavor. So Sunday while walking through the Village in NY the Hunnie & I stopped by this military store and picked up some patches for only a BUCK, yup i said it a BUCK! I'm really feeling the outcome, what do you girls think?

Things needed:
  1. Military vest/ jean jacket/ army jacket w/cut off sleeves
  2. Patches (I've also seen them on eBay)
  3. Scissors
  4. Iron
  5. No sew hemming tape (Joann's, Michael's, craft store etc.)
  6. Studs (purchased on eBay)
Steps:
  • The first step you would need to do is play around with the patches and the stones to see exactly where you would like them. Once you get that out of the way it's time to get to work =] .
  • start cutting the no sew hemming tape to fit the size of the patches, place the patches where you originally wanted it and flip the vest inside out; being that the fabric of the patch is a Lil too thick and we need the hemming tape to get as hot as possible it's best to do it this way.
  • Start ironing until the patch is completely attached to the vest (note: if you think that this bad boy is going to be in the wash a lot i advise for you to also add some fabric glue in the middle of each patch before ironing the hemming tape).
  • Got the patches right where you want them? perfect! Now it's time for the studs (my favorite part <3). Put them fancy things wherever you'd like & VOILA!

DIY pearl collar

DIY pearl collar

This is such an easy and fast DIY project that adds a lot of personality w/out looking like you're trying too hard. I actually seen a dupe top in white at H&M for $50 which in my opinion is a lil too much so i thought "Why not DIY!". I placed all the things that would be needed below, enjoy!

You will need:
  1. Top (mines was purchased at H&M for $9.95)
  2. Flat back pearls (purchased from Ebay for $1.95)
  3. Jewel-it fabric glue (purchased from Joann's craft store)
  4. Toothpicks
  5. Disposable plate or any surface to place glue
Steps
  • Pour a good amount of glue on the plate and unbutton the blouse placing the inside of the collar outward.
  • Take the toothpick and dab it into the glue placing the glue on the flat end of the pearl. Remember not to add to much glue being that when you're pressing down the pearl on the collar it will spread (we don't want a messy shirt, now do we?)
  • Press the pearl onto the collar. Start by spreading them with at least a half of an inch apart until the collar is done then start filling in the gaps as you wish
  • Once you have them right where you want them put the shirt somewhere safe in the same position it was in while you were putting on the pearls. Let it dry for about 24 hours and VOILA !

DIY distressed American flag pocket shorts

Morning Fellow Bloggers,
Feeling Patriotic ?!? Hehe soooo I've really been meaning to create a pair of DIY distressed American flag shorts (wow that seems long lol) but wasn't quite sure on how exactly i wanted them. I've seen a lot of DIY shorts with the American flag taped/sewed and glued onto the front of shorts but i wanted a more wearable look. Let's get started =]

Things you will need:
° no sew hemming tape (Joann's, Michaels, craft store etc.)
° any pair of denim pants/shorts/capris
° America flag bandanna
° iron (for the hemming tape)
° scissors
° cutting board
° pen or chalk
° sharp knife or blade
° washing machine

Steps
1) Use anything with a straight edge to draw on a line for cutting purposes. I used the cutting board since i will be using it later on in the tutorial. When cutting the jeans i slanted my cutting line to give it a more retro feel. Keep in mind that the front of the jeans will be cut separately so you would need to draw lines in the front also. Start cutting your jeans once you have the lines right where you want them. Cut the front and the back separately.

2) Place the cutting board in between the jeans so you wont cut through to the back of the jeans when making the rips. Now for some fun =D , get the ripping! I used a knife and just started cutting away. Make sure to keep the rips towards the laying pocket area so you will be able to see the American flag through them.

3) Place the shorts inside out. Cut the part of the flag where the stars are into a complete square, once its cut you are going to place it under the are of the actual pocket. Get yourself some hemming tape and iron the two fabrics together. Once you have ironed on the flag to the inside of the actual pocket you are going to fold the fabric over in half and add some more hemming tape and continue to iron until all three sides are ironed together. Make sure to leave the bottom half undone/open. Do the same to the other pocket, i preferred to have the stripes going vertical but you can do them either way.

4) Cut the fabric into a slant (shorter side on the outside). This took some time to get them right where i want them, best way is to try them on and mark the longer area to where you'd like it best. Flip the shorts back over and this time you are going to take both bottom edges and fold them inside facing each other ; add some hemming tape and iron.

5) Wash & Dry & voila ! (Make sure to have it on delicate because you don't want to ruin that hem)
